About The Daily Shred

I do book reviews for a trade journal called Library Journal. A lot of them. Hundreds of them. I get ‘galley’ copies, which are like a draft version of the book. Afterwards I don’t know what to do with them, but there are way too many to keep carting around with me from one location to another as I lump through life.

But since I live in a culture that fetishizes books (teachers and librarians say, ‘don’t write in them!’ ‘don’t drop them in the tub’ ‘someone else can use them!’) I kept them for far too long.

So I decided to recycle what I could (the pages) and pitch the rest. Here’s the chronicle. For each I included the review as a trip down memory lane.
